It was our first week back for our Junior Golf Academy...and with the help of our awesome Intern @tv_golf we were able to screen and come up with an individualized corrective exercise program for 41 junior golfers!
Whew!!!💥💥💥💥💥⛳⛳⛳⛳ We took them through the 16pt TPI screen formulated by the Titleist Performance Institute.
Each junior received a Golf Fitness Handicap.
Tyler & I created the corrective programs pinpointing each junior's developmental weakness which was highlighted in red (alert) or yellow (caution). Now, here comes the fun next week when we introduce all the exercises for daily homework!
💥💥💥Our workouts will NOT focus on corrective exercises. Our workouts will still primarily consist of (outside) station work of strength, mobility, speed, and power moves in and out of the pool.
Week one done...on to Week 2!

🍜 One of my clients let me try one of her packages of Miracle Noodles that she just got from Amazon.com. .
🍜I tried them and loved them!

🍜 These noodles are definitely dietary friendly. They are great for Keto, Paleo, gluten free, grain free, soy free, vegan, kosher, and blood sugar friendly.
. 🍜I tried the angel hair Shirataki noodles that are thin and airy. As you can see from my picture of the package they are 0 calories. They have 1g of fiber and a natural calcium additive that helps the noodles keep their shape.

🍜I was curious. So I did some research. Unlike typical noodles, which are made of flour grain, shirataki noodles are made of the Japanese konjac plant.
. 🍜They are sold in a 10 pack for $30 on Amazon.com. . 🍜I placed the entire bag in a skillet. I fried them up a bit similar to Raman noodles. Then I put 6 eggs in the Pan with them. A little avocado oil helps them not stick. It made two servings for me.
.
🍜 100% protein. I seasoned them with turmeric and pepper. Try them and let me know what you think!

Meet Intern Tyler Vincent! @tv_golf .
⛳ Tyler will be spending his last 6 months of his college career as our intern at Fit For Golf! Fit For Life! 🏌️‍♂️He will also be assisting the Dan Campbell golf Academy with the junior athletes. .
⛳ Tyler is originally from Naperville, Illinois and grew up playing baseball and golf.
. 🏌️‍♂️ He spent the last 4 years studying in Business Administration and Exercise Science with a concentration in PGA Golf Management at Methodist University in North Carolina. .
⛳While at Methodist, Tyler competed regularly on the golf team all 4 years, which included a career highlight of qualifying for the 2018 US Amateur at Pebble Beach. 🏌️‍♂️ Tyler is a certified US Kids Golf coach and TPI level one certified.
. ⛳He spent his last year at Methodist developing exercise programs for the golf team and will continue to do so moving forward.
. 🏌️‍♂️⛳🏌️‍♂️⛳His primary focus is helping people in whatever way he can, but mostly within and exercise domain. Outside of work, you can find Tyler practicing his golf game, lifting, and spending time with friends... sometimes all at the same time!

Good bacteria, that is....in the form of prebiotic foods! These are actually in my fridge! I don't eat ALL of them everyday, but I get at least one.

Why are they good? Not only are they nutrient dense (lots of good stuff with lower calories), they contain special little critters called probiotics that help you with your gut health.

While conventional wisdom may tell you to avoid bacteria, some bacteria can promote better health, including probiotics. *
🥛Probiotics are microorganisms naturally present in the digestive tract that aid in digestion and reduce inflammation. They benefit the health of your microbiome. *
🥦While there are several different classes and types of probiotics, some of the most common include:
Bifidobacterium
Lactobacillus

#supersaturday ⛳🏌️‍♂️Gyms are opening this week with stipulations. One of those stipulations is that there is no group training. Since there is no group training that means there are no junior workouts for awhile. ⛳🏌️‍♀️Our juniors have had the opportunity these past 2 months to be a part of 14 virtual workouts on Zoom. ⛳🏌️‍♂️ We have one more week of virtual workouts then the Academy takes a full 1 week break since Christmas. We hope to have the juniors starting back to live in-person workouts starting in June. ⛳🏌️‍♀️ If this cannot happen, Then we will try to implement 1 on 1 junior TPI screenings and programs for eachjunior during their golf practice on the range this summer. ⛳🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♀️The word...ADAPTATION. WE CAN DO THIS. 💛 🧡❤💚I, Coach Mindi, appreciate all the patience and support from our junior parents throughout this past golf season. Uncharted territory....but we are creating and cultivating a new dynamic. I believe we are headed in a positive direction.

It is about holding yourself accountable, not skipping, staying consistent, and feeling proud of yourself for focusing on each step vs the whole staircase when cultivating a habit.

Our DCGA Junior Zoom workouts have caught on!
Today our focus was 35 minutes of all explosive power moves as well as balance. Being a live coach, I don't usually DO the entire workout with the juniors in the gym. We have stations and and sniper work for individual needs.
In a virtual workout where I have to mute the kids for most of the workout, I have to do the whole thing with them! This one was tough. I've gotten less explosive in my movements with age and lack of practice. But these kids are in the perfect speed window of trainability...and it is important to push them as much as possible.
In this very unique time, learning new things and adapting to new ways shows patience, determination, and stamina.
Proud of all our juniors for participating as much as they can!

Flexion and extension of the spine are movements that are essential for life. When any of the 7 cervical vertebrae in the neck, 12 thoracic vertebrae of the ribs, 5 lumbar vertabrae of the low back, or 6 sections of the sacrum get locked up or stuck, issues can happen throughout the rest of the body. Compensations happen that we don't even feel on our own until there is pain.
Joseph Pilates stated, "we are only as old as our spines." Keep your spine young. TAKE CARE OF IT!

Bulgarian split squat (fitforgolf style)...also known as Rear Foot Elevated Split Squat!
We added a little twist to it this morning!
@papakoges here is demonstrating the exercise with an extra emphasis on the base leg. In the first exercise he is loading it continuously in the glute and heel.
Second we added @stickmobility for some rotation.
It is tougher than it looks! If you try this at home be very aware of your alignment and what you should be feeling.
1)In order to load the glute properly I do not want your knee going past the toe.
2) Hinge forward at the hips. If you are too upright it will compromise your low back.
3) Keep your head going up and down...not side to side. Look down at your imaginary ball to stay within a correct plane.

@papakoges is an avid golfer. For his size, he hits the ball far! Why?...... He works on his ability to disassociate his upper body from his lower body a lot. He incorporates multiplanar moves throughout every workout which helps him to get that "crack of the whip" explosive feeling in his swing. 🍽1) Here he is going for speed in a standing position with only the balls of his feet on the plates. He is using his obliques in his core to fire while his torso goes the opposite way if his hips. 🍽2) Crossunders are a perfect upper body stability challenge while taking a plate under the body and reaching as far as you can to increase elasticity. The hard part is maintaining control if the stationary leg.
Give it a try at home today!
