My name is Shelby Martinek. I'm 14yrs old and a freshman at Marcos de Niza in Tempe, AZ and I'm been seeing Mindi for a year and a half. All I can really say is.......Mindi is awesome at what she does and I wouldn't have been able to achieve what I’ve achieved in golf.
During the summer I have played in many golf tournaments. I have done well in them, partly because of Mindi's help! She helped me build my endurance and helped me get stronger. Also, she helped me get tougher on my mental side of golf. Without her help, I wouldn't have lasted during the summer! Each week during the summer, I would have two tournaments (maybe three). And I would be exhausted at the end of the week.
With the help from Mindi, I was able to shoot mid 70's to low 70's. I was able to maintain my toughness in the mind but also in my body! I wasn't getting tired anymore.
My summer statistics of wins were: (IN 13-14 age division)
1. Thunderbird Junior Classic (79-75=154)
2. Tuscon City Junior Championship (72-72=144)
3. PING Arizona Junior Match-Play
4. Kingman City Junior Championship (79-74=153)
But the next tournament (PING Arizona Junior Masters) was where I had my all time low.
Which was -2(70) at Karsten. I got 3rd. (79-70=149)
Most recent tournaments were in high school. For matches, I medaled in 5.
And in REGIONALS I won with an (85-75=160). We played at Ken McDonald.
For state I got 2nd. My scores were (70-73=143). But I had my first hole-in-one.
What a great season I'm having. And I'm still not done! I couldn't have done it without Mindi and her style of training.
I think that golf fitness and conditioning is great. I couldn't have posted those scores without fitness. I have been able to stretch out my hamstrings and I've gotten a lot stronger! Six months ago I couldn’t touch my toes or do a deep squat. Both lead to an early extension, lack of balance, and over-the-top faults in my swing. Now I touch my toes and have enough core strength and control to complete a lot of Olympic lifts correctly.
